Presentation of omega 3

Omega 3 are polyunsaturated fatty acids essential for our balance. In the body, they play a major role in heart and brain function as well as maintaining vision.

However, daily dietary consumption of omega 3 is today often too low, with a deficiency in EPA and DHA fatty acids in almost 9 out of 10 French people. Since our body cannot produce these fatty acids, it is important to ensure that we have sufficient intake of omega 3.

To take care of your cardiovascular health, our supplement contains ultra-pure and concentrated EPAX® fish oil EPA and DHA, fatty acids in the natural form of triglycerides, offering optimal bioavailability for the body.

Each daily dose (4 easy-to-swallow capsules) provides 800 mg of EPA and 600 mg of DHA. All without any fishy taste or smell!

Why choose our Omega 3?

Pure Epax® fish oil
We have selected Epax® fish oil, extracted at low temperature, then decontaminated and purified through a patented molecular distillation process. It is Friend of the Sea® certified, ensuring fishing that respects biodiversity.

Our answers to your questions

Composition
Use

Why did you choose EPAX® fish oil?

The Epax® label is one of the most renowned in the world, due to its quality and reliability. Taking a labeled fish oil ensures superior quality and optimal purity.

L'Epax® fish oil is produced from a low temperature extraction and cleaning process in Aalesund, Norway. They practice a patented molecular distillation method, to remove environmental contaminants and heavy metals, which exceeds the standards set by the GOED.

Epax® fish oil is ultra-concentrated in omega 3, in natural triglyceride form, which makes it easily bioavailable to the body. It contains an optimal balance of fatty acids, with 40% EPA and 30% DHA, making it the object of study on health.

What does Friend of the Sea® certification mean?

The label Friend of the Sea is the leading certification standard for products that respect and protect the marine environment. It is also the only certification program for sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, recognized and supervised worldwide by European national accreditation agencies. Obtaining this label certifies to the consumer that the product they consume complies with strict fishing standards, contributing to the health of the oceans and sustainable fisheries.

What is the Totox index, and why is it important?

Oxidation is a natural process that occurs in all fats and oils containing unsaturated fatty acids.

The Totox index measures the oxidation level of Omega-3s. The lower the index, the fresher and more stable the oil, meaning fewer Omega-3s are degraded. This makes it an important factor to check when choosing a supplement.

A high-quality Omega-3 product should have a Totox index below 10 (with the maximum limit set at 26).

The Totox index of our Omega-3s remains below 3 throughout the product’s shelf life. This exceptionally low value ensures maximum Omega-3 content in each capsule.

Are your Omega-3s deodorized?

Yes! We understand that a fishy aftertaste can be unpleasant. That’s why our Omega-3s are deodorized using an advanced purification process. Our capsules are completely tasteless and odor-free, preventing any unpleasant reflux.

What size are the capsules?

Each Omega 3 capsule contains 500 mg of EPAX® fish oil, the world's leading Omega 3 fatty acid, and is 1.5 cm long, making them very easy to swallow (unlike traditional 1000 mg capsules).

What are triglycerides?

Triglycerides are a type of lipid (fat) found in the blood and are the main form of fat stored in the body. They are made up of three fatty acids attached to a glycerol molecule.

How long does one bottle last?

Each bottle contains 120 capsules. If you take 4 capsules per day, it will last for one month (or two months if you take 2 capsules per day).

Why should I take Omega-3?

Omega-3s are essential fatty acids that the body cannot produce in sufficient quantities. They are naturally found in certain foods, especially oily fish, and play a key role in heart, brain, and eye health.

What is the recommended daily intake of Omega-3 for adults?

Recommendations vary depending on the source, but the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) suggests around 250 mg of EPA + DHA per day for an adult.

For optimal benefits, a daily intake of 1,000 mg to 2,000 mg is often recommended (equivalent to 2 to 4 capsules of our supplement).

What are the signs that I might have an Omega-3 deficiency?

A deficiency in Omega-3s may lead to:

  • Dry, irritated skin
  • Mental fatigue, concentration and memory issues
  • Mood swings, anxiety, or depressive tendencies
  • Brittle hair and nails
  • Vision problems

If you experience several of these signs, increasing your Omega-3 intake through diet or supplementation may be beneficial.

What are the benefits of omega 3?

Omega 3 are essential fatty acids known to contribute to the normal functioning of the heart. They also help maintain normal vision and participate in healthy brain development.

These benefits are mainly attributed to EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), present in omega 3 (provided you consume at least 250 mg of EPA and DHA per day).

Should I take Omega-3 every day?

Whether you need daily Omega-3 supplementation depends on your diet. If you consume little to no oily fish or plant-based Omega-3 sources, a daily supplement may be beneficial.

A consistent daily intake, whether through food or supplementation, helps meet your needs with no time limit, as long as the dosage is appropriate.

When and how to use this omega 3 supplement?

We recommend taking 4 capsules of omega 3 per day with a large glass of water, preferably during a meal to improve the absorption of fatty acids. For optimal effect, it is advisable to consume them regularly over the long term.

Are Novoma Omega-3s suitable for me if I am pregnant?

Yes, Omega-3s can be consumed during pregnancy, particularly due to the presence of DHA. However, it is important to follow the recommended dosages and consult your doctor if you have any concerns.

Can I give omega 3 to a child?

It is perfectly possible for you to give omega 3 to a child, as omega 3 is beneficial for their health. However, the recommended dose varies depending on the age of the child. It is important to consult a health professional before giving an omega 3 supplement to a child.

Yes, it is possible to give omega 3 to a child from the age of 4, omega 3 being beneficial for their health. The recommended daily doses (RDI) are as follows:

  • From 4 to 10 years: 2 capsules per day.
  • From 10 to 17 years old: 2 to 3 capsules per day.

Note that before giving an omega 3 supplement to a child, it is advisable to consult a health professional.

Are Omega 3s suitable for vegetarians or vegans?

Our food supplement is formulated from fish oil. It is therefore not suitable for vegetarians and vegans. In case of a vegetarian or vegan diet, we invite you to turn to plant sources of omega 3, such as flaxseed oil.

Why should I choose fish oil-based Omega-3s over plant-based sources?

Animal and plant-based Omega-3s are not absorbed in the same way by the body.

Animal sources, such as fish or cod liver oil, provide EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) directly in forms that the body can easily use.

Plant-based sources, like flaxseeds and chia seeds, mainly contain ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), which must be converted into EPA and DHA. However, this conversion process is very inefficient.

Thanks to their superior bioavailability, fish oil-based Omega-3s are generally preferred to meet the body’s needs more effectively.

Why not offer an omega 3 6 9 supplement?

A formula combining omega 3, 6 and 9 may seem like a good idea at first glance, as these fatty acids are all essential for health.

Omega-3 and Omega-6 are two types of essential fatty acids that play different but complementary roles in the body. However, too much Omega-6 can inhibit the use of Omega-3, potentially leading to an imbalance. Many people already consume too much Omega-6 through modern diets (corn oil, sunflower oil, etc.), creating an imbalance that can promote inflammation and chronic disease.

Regarding omega 9, the body is able to synthesize it from other fatty acids. It is widely present in foods like olive oil and avocados, which means that most people consume enough of it without the need for specific supplementation.

To conclude, combined supplementation is generally not necessary and can potentially lead to imbalances, hence the fact that we only offer omega 3, allowing the omega 3 / omega 6 ratio to be balanced.

Which foods are naturally rich in Omega-3?

Omega-3s are found in various natural sources.

The richest sources include oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines, as well as plant-based sources like walnuts, chia seeds, flaxseeds, and oils such as flaxseed and rapeseed oil.
