4 little-known benefits of vitamin A

Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is primarily stored in the liver. It exists in two forms: retinol and carotenoids.

The first, retinol, is only found in foods of animal source. This is the only form of vitamin A that is bioavailable (assimilated by the body).

Carotenoids, the second type of vitamin A, are only found in plant-based foods. There are over 600 different types of carotenoids, but only provitamin A type carotenoids are beneficial to the body, once converted to retinol.

Today, we present to you 4 of its many benefits!

The benefits of vitamin A

Vitamin A (retinol) helps with vision by allowing the eyes to adapt to changes in light.

Most eye disorders affect older people; However, a nutritional deficiency in vitamin A can cause these disorders to appear prematurely.

2. It supports the body's immunity

Vitamin A helps regulate genes involved in the immune response. This process helps protect the body against infections by contributing to the proper functioning of the immune system.

3. It helps fight inflammation

Vitamin A has antioxidant properties that neutralize free radicals present in the body and which cause tissue and cellular damage, which helps to reduce cellular damage and premature aging.
