The 4 best tips for a perfect tan
With the arrival of sunny days also comes (for some!) a problem: the famous “summer body”. Or how to be proud of your body on the beach, to make the most of this beautiful sun that is coming. 🌞
Today, to anticipate summer (but not only that), we offer you a focus on tanning.
How to prepare your skin for the sun? How to stay tanned for a long time, safely, and without ending up scalded?
A successful tan is no coincidence! So here are our 4 best tips for tanning, but also maintaining your tan safely and for as long as possible.
Our tips for a successful tan
1. Prepare your skin for the sun
Certainly, to tan, you can expose yourself to the sun in the middle of the afternoon without any "preparation" and wait... it works (well, if by "tan", you mean "suffering a first degree burn")!
To avoid this type of inconvenience, and tan safely, it is first of all essential to properly prepare your skin for the sun. Indeed, exposure to UV is not without danger: it can lead to premature aging of the skin, but also contributes to increasing the risk of cancer.
In order to tan peacefully, you can prepare your skin by focusing on two main areas: hydration and exfoliation.
-
Hydration : it limits the risk of peeling. Be careful, it must be both external and internal: regularly using a moisturizing cream is good, but (also) drinking lots of water is even better!
- Exfoliation : it removes dead skin, which ensures your tan stays on better. You don't want to tan parts of your skin that are destined to disappear, do you?!
2. Adapt your diet (to stock up on beta-carotene)
As surprising as it may seem, to get a good tan, you also need to eat well, yes. Or, at least, favor foods rich in carotenoids , and more especially in beta-carotene . Under this barbaric name hides a precursor molecule of vitamin A. This natural pigment stimulates the synthesis of melanin which is responsible for tanning . In addition, beta-carotene is an antioxidant which is involved in healing and protecting the skin, particularly against… the sun.
Therefore, to activate your tan and reduce the risks for your skin, you can favor these foods: apricots, melons and peaches, watermelon, but also carrots, nuts, shrimp as well as seafood and oily fish...
And once again, don't forget to hydrate yourself a lot: water, fruit, carrot or watermelon juice will protect your skin and contribute to your tan.
3. Use solar food supplements
Do you have a grudge against fruit or seafood? Are you worried about being deficient in vitamin A or other carotenoids? In this case, there is a solution: use food supplements to prepare the skin for the sun .
To fill a potential nutritional gap, or simply put all the chances on your side to achieve a successful tan, look to formulas rich in carotenoids , with antioxidant properties. The carotenoid family certainly contains beta-carotene but not only that: we also find lutein , lycopene (a carotene which gives its color to tomatoes and grapefruit), astaxanthin , etc.
If supplementation tempts you, we offer a Sun Formula specially designed to prepare your skin for the sun and promote tanning . Rich in natural carotenoids , and also contains copper, burdock, vitamin E and pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). With a course of 2 capsules per day, you will be ready for an exceptional, uniform and long-lasting tan!
Furthermore, as we had previously mentioned in an article on Spirulina , this cyanobacteria also turns out to be an excellent food supplement for tanning . Spirulina is in fact extremely rich in carotenoids such as beta-carotene. It can therefore also accompany you throughout your exposure to the sun to prepare the skin for exposure to the sun and enhance your tan.
You will have understood, these two food supplements are highly recommended for a tan that meets your expectations !

4. Protect your skin in all circumstances
As we have already mentioned, exposure to the sun is not a trivial event, and must be carried out with essential protection. Starting with the inevitable sunscreen ! Contrary to popular belief, it does not prevent you from tanning, but protects your skin from sunburn and keeps it hydrated. Reapply every two hours, and after any swimming.
Do not expose yourself for too long the first days: one to two hours is enough to start; you can then gradually increase your duration of exposure to the sun. And above all, avoid lying down in direct sunlight between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.: even with all the protection in the world, this is a major risk factor for your skin.
Also consider repositioning yourself regularly, both to even out your tan and to protect areas of your body from too long exposure to the sun.
A successful tan... and one that lasts!
By following these 4 tips, you will maximize your chances of tanning quickly, well and safely. And to maintain your tan over time, apply tip no. 1 after your tanning session: hydrate yourself externally (with an after-sun milk, for example) and internally (remember to drink a lot), do a scrub , and if you use supplements, continue the treatment several weeks after the end of your tanning period.
You now have all the cards in hand to make the most of the sun, so... enjoy your tan!
