Qu'est-ce que la N-acétylcystéine (NAC) ?
La N-acétylcystéine, ou NAC, est une forme stable de la cystéine, un acide aminé soufré produit en quantité limitée par l'organisme. Une fois ingérée, elle est convertie en L-cystéine, puis utilisée par nos cellules pour produire le glutathion, le principal antioxydant naturel de notre organisme.
Cette production dépend directement de la disponibilité en cystéine. Le problème : elle n'est pas toujours présente en quantité suffisante, ce qui peut ralentir la synthèse de glutathion. Avec l'âge, le stress ou l'exposition à la pollution, l'organisme en produit aussi naturellement moins.
En apportant de la cystéine sous une forme hautement biodisponible, la NAC en complément alimentaire soutient la production du glutathion, essentiel à la détoxification naturelle de notre corps (2).
