Magnesium Overview

Magnesium is an essential mineral that is involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions. It is essential to our well-being and contributes in particular to the reduction of fatigue, as well as to the proper functioning of the nervous and muscular systems.

However, it is estimated today that 75% of French people are deficient in magnesium, which can lead to a loss of energy, disturbed sleep, stress or even muscular discomfort.

To help you meet your magnesium needs, we have selected a highly bioavailable form of magnesium: magnesium bisglycinate. It is easily absorbed by the body and does not cause digestive discomfort.

To optimize its effectiveness, magnesium bisglycinate is combined with taurine and bioactive vitamin B6 which promote the assimilation of magnesium.

This supplement is ideal for people prone to stress, fatigue, muscle cramps, or with increased magnesium needs (athletes, seniors, etc.).

Why our Magnesium Bisglycinate?

Good magnesium is, above all, magnesium that your body truly absorbs. That's why we chose bisglycinate.

A highly absorbable and well-tolerated form (4)
Bisglycinate is a 3rd generation chelated form: magnesium is bound to two glycine molecules. This structure promotes very good assimilation and excellent digestive tolerance, unlike marine magnesium or oxide, which are often associated with digestive discomfort. Magnesium bisglycinate is particularly valued for its beneficial effects on vitality, sleep, and stress management, while supporting muscle and nerve health.

Magnesium + taurine: a natural synergy
We have combined our magnesium bisglycinate with taurine, an amino acid naturally present in the body. Often used alongside magnesium, it enhances the formula's benefit for nervous and muscular balance.

A formula enriched with bioactive vitamin B6
Our formula is enriched with vitamin B6 in its bioactive form pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P), directly usable by the body. It perfectly complements the magnesium + taurine combination by contributing to the proper functioning of the nervous system and the reduction of fatigue.

An effective dosage, available in 2 formats
Each daily dose (3 capsules) provides 300 mg of elemental magnesium, representing 80% of the Reference Nutrient Intakes (3). Diet naturally supplements the rest of the needs. We offer it in 2 formats: the 120-capsule format, ideal for regular intake, covering 40 days of treatment and offering excellent value for money; and the 60-capsule format, covering 20 days of treatment, for a shorter supplementation.

Made in France 🇫🇷
GMO-free, gluten-free, without controversial additives or excipients. Suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets.

R-PET bottle ♻️
Our bottle is made of 100% recycled and recyclable R-PET, with the aim of reducing our carbon footprint.

A formula highly appreciated by our customers
Average customer review score: 4.6/5 based on 761 reviews. Our Magnesium Bisglycinate is so popular, particularly for its effective dosage, its formula enriched with taurine and bioactive vitamin B6, and its excellent value for money.

The benefits of Novoma Magnesium Bisglycinate

Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in more than 300 enzymatic reactions in the body. Its benefits are well established and widely documented:

Reduction of fatigue
Magnesium contributes to normal energy metabolism and helps reduce fatigue (1). However, nearly 75% of the French population has insufficient magnesium intake (2), which can impact daily energy levels.

Muscle function
Essential for neuromuscular transmission, it supports normal muscle function (1).

Nervous system balance
Magnesium contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system (1). During stressful periods, it can be effectively combined with our stress support supplements.

Normal psychological function
Magnesium contributes to normal psychological functions (1). Adequate intake may be particularly helpful during demanding or stressful periods, especially to promote relaxation before bedtime, and can be combined if needed with our sleep support supplements.

Who is Magnesium Bisglycinate for?

Our Magnesium Bisglycinate is designed for anyone looking to support their nervous system balance, muscle function, and daily energy levels. It may be particularly beneficial for individuals who have increased magnesium needs, such as:

People prone to nervous fatigue
Stressful or demanding periods can increase the body’s needs and contribute to the depletion of magnesium reserves.

Athletes
Physical activity increases mineral loss, especially through sweating, and places greater demands on the body’s reserves.

Pregnant women
During pregnancy, maternal magnesium also contributes to fetal development, which may increase requirements. Supplementation during pregnancy should always be considered with the advice of a healthcare professional.

People experiencing persistent fatigue
Ongoing fatigue without a clear cause may sometimes be linked to insufficient magnesium intake. Depending on individual needs, it may also be relevant to explore other supplements for fatigue.

People taking medication
Certain treatments may reduce magnesium levels. In such cases, supplementation may be recommended to help restore adequate levels.

How should you take Magnesium Bisglycinate?

A few simple guidelines are enough to take your magnesium bisglycinate effectively on a daily basis.

What dosage?
The recommended dosage of Novoma Magnesium Bisglycinate is 3 capsules per day (equivalent to 300 mg of elemental magnesium), to be taken with a large glass of water.

When to take it?
Magnesium bisglycinate is best taken with a meal, either in the morning or at lunchtime to help reduce daytime fatigue, or in the evening with dinner to promote relaxation before bedtime. The most important factor is consistency.

For how long?
The 120-capsule format provides a 40-day supply, while the 60-capsule format covers 20 days. For lasting results, we recommend taking magnesium for 1 to 3 months. As magnesium is not stored in large amounts by the body, it can be taken continuously at the recommended dosage without risk of accumulation.

Why offer magnesium in bisglycinate form?

There are many forms of magnesium (oxide, marine, citrate, malate, bisglycinate…) which differ in terms of bioavailability, elemental magnesium content, and digestive tolerance.

We have chosen magnesium bisglycinate because it is a highly absorbable form, well tolerated by the body, and has a high elemental magnesium content. This third-generation magnesium salt is characterized by optimal absorption without digestive discomfort.

What is the difference between magnesium glycinate and bisglycinate?

There is no difference between magnesium glycinate and magnesium bisglycinate. The term “bis” in “magnesium bisglycinate” is simply another way of referring to magnesium glycinate, indicating that it contains two molecules of the amino acid glycine.

What are the benefits of taurine and vitamin B6 in the formula?

Taurine and vitamin B6 in our magnesium bisglycinate formula optimize the effects and absorption of magnesium, ensuring a high-quality product.

What is the best magnesium?

The two best forms of magnesium are magnesium malate and magnesium bisglycinate, as they offer excellent bioavailability and good digestive tolerance.

  • Magnesium malate is particularly beneficial for energy and muscle recovery.
  • Magnesium bisglycinate is ideal for relaxation, stress management, and sleep support.

However, bisglycinate is more affordable and more concentrated in elemental magnesium, making it an excellent choice for daily supplementation.

Does your magnesium cause digestive issues?

No, our magnesium generally does not cause digestive discomfort. We have specifically chosen the bisglycinate form, which is highly tolerated by the body and does not cause transit issues.

Is your magnesium buffered?

Yes, our magnesium bisglycinate is buffered with 15% magnesium oxide.

Pure bisglycinate, while very well absorbed by the body, contains a limited amount of elemental magnesium. By buffering it with a small proportion of magnesium oxide, we increase its elemental magnesium content while maintaining excellent bioavailability and good digestive tolerance.

This choice ensures an optimal magnesium intake (300 mg of elemental magnesium per daily dose of 3 capsules) without requiring excessive capsule intake and at an affordable price.

Is magnesium bisglycinate better absorbed than marine magnesium or magnesium citrate?

Yes, magnesium bisglycinate is one of the most well-absorbed forms because it is bound to glycine, an amino acid that facilitates its passage into the body.

Marine magnesium, although natural, has lower bioavailability and may have a laxative effect.

Citrate magnesium is better absorbed than marine magnesium but slightly less tolerated digestively than bisglycinate.

Magnesium bisglycinate or marine magnesium: what's the difference?

Bisglycinate is appreciated for its excellent digestive tolerance and very good assimilation. It is ideal for long-term treatment. Marine magnesium may be suitable for some people, but it is more often associated with digestive discomfort.

Does magnesium affect sleep?

Yes, it promotes muscle and nerve relaxation, which facilitates falling asleep. It also contributes to melatonin production, the sleep hormone, and reduces nocturnal awakenings.

Supplementation can therefore improve sleep quality, especially in people prone to anxiety or stress-related sleep disorders.

When will I feel the effects of my magnesium treatment?

The first benefits of a magnesium course appear after 3 to 4 weeks of regular intake. For optimal and more complete effects, we recommend a 3-month course.

This varies from person to person, but the first benefits on energy from magnesium supplementation appear after 2 to 3 weeks. In cases of severe deficiency, it can take up to a month to restore optimal balance.

The important thing is to maintain regular intake to observe lasting effects.

Can this supplement help reduce fatigue?

Yes, magnesium helps reduce fatigue by supporting energy metabolism. A lack of magnesium can lead to fatigue and a decrease in vitality. Supplementing with magnesium helps maintain energy and dynamism on a daily basis.

How does magnesium help with stress?

Magnesium plays a key role in regulating the nervous system by participating in the production of GABA, a neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation.

Magnesium glycinate is particularly beneficial because it is well absorbed by the body and can help reduce nervousness, muscle tension, and anxious thoughts. It is therefore a valuable ally for better stress management in daily life.

Can you be allergic to magnesium?

It is very rare. Reactions attributed to magnesium are most often linked to excipients or certain less well-tolerated forms, such as oxide or marine magnesium. The bisglycinate form, combined with a K-Caps® vegetable capsule without controversial additives, is designed to minimize these risks.

Does magnesium bisglycinate have side effects?

Aux doses recommandées, le magnésium bisglycinate est bien toléré. C’est d’ailleurs l’une des formes les mieux tolérées au niveau digestif. En cas de surdosage, des vertiges, diarrhées ou nausées peuvent survenir.

When to take magnesium glycinate?

The ideal time to take magnesium depends on your goal:

  • If you are taking magnesium bisglycinate to reduce stress, increase energy levels, or relax your muscles, it is best to take it with a meal, either in the morning or at midday.
  • If your goal is to improve sleep quality, it is better to take magnesium bisglycinate in the evening, just before bed.

We recommend taking magnesium at a fixed time each day and consistently. Like all dietary supplements, regularity is key to seeing results.

Should I take all three magnesium capsules at once or spread them throughout the day?

It is perfectly fine to take all three capsules in one dose to optimize absorption.

However, if you are sensitive or prefer gradual absorption, you can spread them out over the day (morning, midday, and evening).

The most important thing is to find the routine that works best for you.

Can I take magnesium glycinate continuously, or should I take breaks?

It is possible to take it continuously, especially if your diet is low in magnesium.

However, some people prefer to take a break of one to two months after several months of supplementation to avoid digestive adaptation.

From what age can this magnesium supplement be given to a child?

This magnesium supplement can be given to children from 4 years old, with a dosage adapted to their age. The recommended daily dose is 2 capsules for children aged 4 to 10 and 3 capsules from 11 years old.

It is always preferable to seek the advice of a healthcare professional before starting supplementation in children.

Can magnesium be taken during pregnancy?

Yes, pregnant women can consume magnesium, as their needs increase during pregnancy. However, it is best to consult a healthcare professional for an appropriate dosage.

What is the dosage of Novoma magnesium bisglycinate?

What is the link between magnesium and muscle function?

Magnesium plays an important role in muscle function: it regulates the entry of calcium into cells, a mechanism that determines muscle contraction and relaxation. When intake is insufficient, muscle tension and discomfort can appear more easily (6).

This situation affects both athletes subjected to repeated exertion and sedentary individuals exposed to physical tension related to stress or prolonged posture.

In this context, a regular intake of magnesium bisglycinate contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function.

What are the main reasons for magnesium deficiency?

Food quality has changed significantly in recent years, transforming our diet. Many essential elements, including magnesium, are naturally less present in our food.

Our current lifestyle, stress, and anxiety also contribute to magnesium loss.

And in some situations, our needs may increase. This is the case for pregnant women, athletes, and the elderly.

What foods are rich in magnesium?

Magnesium-rich foods include whole grains, dark chocolate and cocoa, oilseeds, seafood and shellfish, oily fish, legumes, dried fruits, and tofu.

You can find the list of the top 10 magnesium-rich foods directly on our blog.
