Introduction to Probiotics

Our body harbors billions of bacteria that make up the gut flora, also known as the microbiota. This living ecosystem contributes to the normal functioning of digestion and plays an essential role in our overall balance. On a daily basis, diet, stress, lifestyle, or seasonal changes can weaken it and disrupt its balance.

Our Novoma Probiotics are a 3-in-1 synbiotic formula combining three complementary families of active ingredients: 5 identified probiotic strains, including the benchmark strain Bifidobacterium lactis LAFTI® B94, providing 25 billion CFU* per 2 capsules (at manufacturing), a prebiotic (chicory inulin), and a postbiotic (heat-inactivated L. plantarum HA-119).

The entire formulation is protected by Bio-Support™ technology, a patented matrix that protects the strains during manufacturing, storage, and gastric transit.

Manufactured in France, our Probiotics offer a foundational solution designed for daily use to contribute to the ongoing balance of gut flora.

Who are our Probiotics for?

Our Probiotics are designed for anyone looking to support the balance of their gut flora on a daily basis. They may be particularly suitable if:

  • You want to support your daily comfort
As part of a regular routine, to contribute to the balance of your gut flora.
  • You are taking or planning to take antibiotics
Antibiotics are valuable, but they do not distinguish between infection-causing bacteria and the beneficial bacteria naturally present in your microbiota. Many people choose to incorporate probiotics during and after their treatment, taking them at least 2 hours apart.
  • You are changing your habits
Travel, dietary changes, or a shift in daily routine: certain periods can test your microbiota. A course of probiotics easily fits into your routine to support these transitions.
  • You are sensitive to seasonal changes
Many customers choose to incorporate a probiotic treatment with every change of season as a key highlight of their wellness routine.
  • Your diet is irregular
Supplements may be beneficial in this case, or if you feel your diet is low in fiber and fermented foods.
  • For prevention
If you want to take a proactive approach to maintaining the long-term balance of your gut flora.

Directions for use

Dosage: take 2 capsules daily with a large glass of water.

When to take: ideally during breakfast. Consistency is what matters most: choose a time that fits easily into your daily routine.

Course duration: we recommend taking it for at least 1 month, which corresponds to one bottle. If needed, the course can be repeated throughout the year.

Continuous use? Yes, this is completely fine at the recommended doses. You can also run consecutive courses with each seasonal change or during periods of digestive sensitivity.

With antibiotics: space the intake at least 2 hours apart from antibiotics to protect the strains.

Our tip: consider subscribing to renew your monthly supply automatically and enjoy 10% off every order.

Why choose our Probiotics?

Choosing a probiotic is not just about the number of billions of CFU. The quality of a formula rests on three essential criteria : precisely identified strains, an appropriate concentration, and strain protection until they reach the gut. Our formula was developed around these exact requirements.

Our new Gut Flora Probiotics formula is a 3-in-1 synbiotic complex : it brings together 5 strains, including a clinically documented strain, a prebiotic, and a postbiotic for a comprehensive action.

It offers a targeted dosage of 25 billion CFU per serving, protected all the way to the gut by the patented Bio-Support™ matrix.

A 3-in-1 synbiotic formula : pre, pro, and postbiotics

Three complementary actions in a single formula :

  • The prebiotic nourishes good bacteria.
  • The 5 live strains contribute to the balance of gut flora.
  • The postbiotic, an inactivated bacterium, complements the action of live strains. It remains stable without requiring a colonization stage.

A comprehensive approach to support the daily balance of your gut flora.

Scientifically documented strains

The B. lactis LAFTI® B94 strain is one of the most studied probiotic strains, with 11 clinical trials, 9 gut health studies, and 22 scientific publications.

The formula is rounded out by 4 other strains identified by their strain codes (Rosell®-1012, GG, Rosell®-175, Rosell®-418), selected for their synergy. A rigorous selection for a reliable and traceable formula.

25 billion CFU per serving

2 capsules provide 25 billion CFU at manufacture, distributed across the 5 complementary strains. What matters is not the displayed number, but the quality of the strains and their protection all the way to the gut, ensured by Bio-Support™ technology. A maintenance formula designed for daily intake, without marketing hype regarding CFU counts.

Bio-Support™ Technology: strains protected all the way to the gut

Bio-Support™ is a patented technology that coats probiotics in a protective matrix of proteins and sugars. It protects the bacteria during production, storage, and gastric transit. This protection allows for storage at room temperature, with no refrigeration required.

What our customers say about Novoma Probiotics

Read testimonials from those who use our products daily! 💚

Notre équipe Agathe

Agathe Demazier

R&D Manager, Novoma

For a probiotic, the most important thing is not the number of billions advertised, but the ability of the strains to arrive alive in the intestine. We have selected 6 strains, 5 of which are scientifically documented, and combined them with a DR Caps® gastro-resistant capsule, designed to protect them from gastric acidity and promote their release in the intestine.

When will I feel effects?

  • Every day

Take your 2 capsules with a large glass of water, preferably during a meal.

  • First days

Your body is adapting to the arrival of the new strains. Mild, temporary discomfort (bloating, gas) may occur in some individuals; it usually disappears within a few days.

  • 2 to 4 weeks

Be patient and consistent. Every gut microbiota responds at its own pace.

  • 1 to 3 months

This is the recommended duration to fully contribute to the balance of your gut flora. You can repeat the program several times a year according to your needs.

Your questions about Probiotics

Composition
Use
Effects

Why have you changed your Probiotics formula?

We wanted to evolve our formula to incorporate recent advances in probiotic research: the number of billions of CFU displayed is not enough on its own to judge the quality of a product; the precision of the strains and their ability to reach the intestine alive count just as much.

In particular, we wanted to include the B. lactis LAFTI® B94 strain, which has been documented by several clinical trials, and combine it for the first time with a prebiotic and a postbiotic. The dosage is slightly lower (25 billion CFU compared to 60 previously), but the selection of strains has been designed to contribute to the balance of the intestinal flora.

If you are more attached to a high dosage, our Probiotiques Ultra range will soon be available with its 60 billion CFU formula.

Why combine a prebiotic (inulin) with our probiotics?

Probiotics are the good bacteriathat contribute to the balance of the intestinal flora. Fibers such as inulin and acacia fiber are their food: they promote their development in the gut.

Our formula provides 60 mg of chicory inulin and acacia fiber to support the live strains. It is this combination that makes the formula a synbiotic, a supplement that combines strains and nourishing fibers in a single product.

Why does our Probiotic contain a postbiotic?

A postbiotic is, according to the ISAPP definition, a preparation of inanimate microorganisms that confers a health benefit on the host.

In our formula, it consists of L. plantarumHA-119, a heat-inactivated strain (4 mg per dose). Unlike live strains which must colonize the gut to be present there, the postbiotic remains stable from the moment it reaches the intestine, without a colonization phase, and for 2 years of shelf life. Combined with the 5 live strains and inulin, it completes the formula's 3-in-1 approach.

How to choose the right probiotic supplement?

5 criteria help you make an informed choice:

  • Strains identified by their code(e.g., Rosell®-1012, GG) and not just by their species name.
  • At least one clinically documented strain, to support the formulation with scientific data.
  • A dosage consistent with the intended use: a maintenance course does not require tens of billions of CFU.
  • Protection of the strains until they reach the intestineand storage at room temperature, without the need for refrigeration.
  • Fibers associatedwith the strains to nourish them in the intestine.

Our comparison of the best probioticsdetails each criterion.

What are CFUs and why is enumeration important?

CFUs (Colony Forming Units) indicate the quantity of live bacteria present in a dose. It is the standard measurement used to quantify probiotic strains, and the dosage is important.

But beyond the displayed number, what matters most are the right strains, precisely identified and correctly dosed: our formula provides 25 billion CFUsper 2-capsule dose, distributed across 5 selected strains, measured at the time of manufacture.

Why are your probiotics not in a gastro-resistant DRcaps® capsule?

Our formula uses a different approach: the patented Bio-Support™ technology, which directly protects the strains within a protein- and sugar-based matrix, rather than delaying the release of the capsule's contents. This protection begins at production and continues through storage and during gastric transit.

It is a different way of addressing the same challenge: the survival of probiotics until they reach the intestine.

Probiotics for gut: capsules or powder?

Good question! From our perspective, the capsule offers several advantages over the powder.

  • In powder form, the strains are exposed to air and moisture as soon as the container is opened, and the dosage remains approximate with each use.
  • In capsule form, the strains are precisely dosed and, thanks to Bio-Support™ technology, protected until they reach the intestine without the need for refrigeration. The capsule format is also easier to integrate into a daily routine, even while traveling.

Do probiotics need to be refrigerated?

Our probiotics are encapsulated in DRcaps® gastro-resistant capsules, ensuring the viability of the strains even when exposed to temporary temperature variations.

If the ambient temperature does not exceed 21°C (70°F), refrigeration is not necessary. However, in higher temperatures, such as during heatwaves, storing them in the refrigerator is recommended to maintain their effectiveness.

How do you know if you need probiotics?

Certain situations may warrant a course of treatment: periods of antibiotic use, travel, or changes in diet or season. There is no simple test to precisely assess the state of one's gut flora. A one-month course allows you to observe changes in how you feel and adjust accordingly. In the event of persistent or unusual digestive issues, we recommend that you consult a healthcare professional.

Is it advisable to take probiotics while on antibiotics?

Probiotics are not contraindicated when taking antibiotics; many people choose to include them during and after their treatment. It is recommended to take them at least two hours after the antibiotic, to give the probiotics time to settle without being immediately affected by the treatment.

We recommend that you seek the advice of your doctor or pharmacist in case of doubt

Is it dangerous to take probiotics while pregnant?

Probiotics have no known contraindications during pregnancy. However, as a precaution, we recommend seeking the advice of a healthcare professional before starting a course. We detail this point in our article on probiotics during pregnancy on our blog.

How long should I take probiotics for?

A minimum 1-month course (one bottle) is recommended, which can be repeated as needed. Continuous use is possible at the recommended doses. Certain periods are particularly suitable for a course: change of season, after antibiotic treatment, before or during a trip.

To learn more, read our article on probiotic courses and our guide on when to take probiotics.

Are your probiotics suitable for children?

Our Probiotics are suitable from age 4, at a rate of one capsule per day.

For children and teenagers, we recommend seeking advice from a healthcare professional before starting a course, in order to adapt the dosage and duration to their specific needs.

How long does it take for probiotics to work?

Every body is different, just as every microbiota is. Consistency is the most important factor: we recommend daily intake for at least one month to allow the intestinal flora time to adapt to the new strains.

Is your supplement suitable for oral or vaginal flora?

Our formula is designed for the intestinal flora. The lactobacilli present in the formula (L. rhamnosusGG, L. acidophilus, L. plantarum) belong to species naturally present in several of the body's flora.

However, our formula is not specifically dosed for oral or vaginal flora. For these specific needs, we invite you to seek advice from a healthcare professional, who will be able to guide you toward a suitable formulation.

Do probiotics have any side effects?

At recommended doses, probiotics are well tolerated by most people. Some may experience mild, temporary digestive discomfort (bloating, gas) at the beginning of the course while the flora adapts to the intake of new strains. This phenomenon is transient and generally disappears within a few days.

To learn more, consult our article on the side effects of probiotics.

Probiotic supplement or fermented foods: which one to choose?

Fermented foods (yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha) provide lactic acid bacteria and are an excellent foundation for a balanced diet. However, the nature and quantity of the strains they contain are variable and rarely measured. A probiotic food supplement provides identified strains that are measured and protected until they reach the intestine.

The two approaches are complementary: fermented foods on a daily basis, and a probiotic course as a specific or ongoing support, depending on individual needs.

Can probiotics be taken continuously?

Yes, no problem, at the recommended doses. The gut microbiota is a living ecosystem that can benefit from a regular intake of probiotic strains, particularly during certain periods: travel, unbalanced diet, or after a course of antibiotics. Simply adapt the duration to your needs.
